SKC Authentic Learning Partners serve as gatekeepers and facilitators of human and financial resources for SKC Safe Havens, Student (youth and adult) Success Circle Teams, and Parent/Community Health, Education, Safety Net Neighborhood COOP service providers.  These leadership partners represent a wide range of stakeholders who are hands-on activists at the grassroots level personally, through organizations they represent, or both.  They are engineers, researchers, physicians, teachers, computer experts, accountants, ministers, artists, musicians, dancers, writers, athletes, business persons, committed parents, local community stakeholders, and other professionals, technicians, and specialists. Our authentic learning partners provide the continuity that is required for successfully introducing, maintaining, and embedding service learning, future-focused career preparation, entrepreneurship, social networking, and multi media creative communications to kindergarten through 12th grade students, with emphasis on those who are at greatest risk of academic and social failure because of limited English proficiency, poverty, fewer than 20 developmental assets, and other challenges.

The SKC facilitates professional development for all stakeholders based on the K-12 Service Learning Standards for Quality Practice, Michigan After School Partnership (MASP)  requirements for school-age youth development certification and research based best practices for project-based activities and events that support the development of ethical values, positive character traits, marketable skills, and competitive credentials required for economic success and productive citizenship in a global economy.   Activities and events are aligned with the school curriculum to create a seamless connection between home, school, and community stakeholders in authentic learning contexts where there is “student voice, family choice, and continuous evaluation and quality review” to drive project  improvement in response to changes in student, family, and neighborhood needs, interests, and priorities.
